Technological Process:

  • Raw Material Mixing: The polyethylene (PE) resin is mixed with appropriate additives, such as antioxidants, anti-blocking agents, breathable masterbatch, etc., in a certain proportion in a mixer until they are fully and evenly blended. These additives can improve the properties of the film, such as enhancing the antioxidant ability, reducing the surface friction coefficient, and enhancing the breathability.
  • Extrusion and Plasticization: The well-mixed raw materials are added to the hopper of the extruder. Through the rotation of the extruder screw, the raw materials are gradually plasticized into a uniform melt under the action of high temperature and pressure in the barrel. The temperature of the extruder, the screw rotation speed and other parameters need to be precisely adjusted according to the characteristics of the raw materials and the product requirements to ensure the quality of the melt.
  • Molding by the Die: The plasticized melt is extruded into the die. The structure and size of the die determine the width and thickness of the film. A common type of die is the coat-hanger die, which can make the melt evenly distributed in the die cavity, thus extruding a film with a uniform thickness.
  • Cooling and Shaping: The film extruded from the die immediately enters the cooling device for cooling and shaping. Usually, air cooling or water cooling methods are adopted to quickly cool down the film and solidify it into the required shape and properties. The cooling rate has an important influence on the crystallinity and physical properties of the film, which needs to be strictly controlled.
  • Stretching Treatment: In order to further improve the breathability and mechanical properties of the film, the cooled film will go through a stretching device for stretching. The stretching can be carried out in both the machine direction (MD) and the transverse direction (TD). By changing the orientation of the film molecules, a microporous structure is formed in the film, thus achieving the breathable function. The stretching ratio and stretching speed are key factors affecting the properties of the film.
  • Surface Treatment: According to the application requirements of the product, sometimes the surface of the film needs to be treated, such as corona treatment, coating treatment, etc. Corona treatment can improve the polarity and roughness of the film surface, enhancing its adhesion to printing inks, adhesives, etc.; coating treatment can add a functional coating layer on the film surface, such as a waterproof coating, an antibacterial coating, etc., to expand the application scope of the film.
  • Rewinding and Packaging: The film after surface treatment is rewound into film rolls of a certain specification through the rewinding device. During the rewinding process, the tension and winding speed need to be controlled to ensure the quality of the film roll. Finally, the film rolls are packaged for storage and transportation.
