Working Principle of a Plastic Shredder:

1. Power Supply & Motor Operation
   • The shredder is powered by an electric motor, which is connected to a gearbox.
   • The motor has forward and reverse switches to control the rotation direction of the shredder shafts (rotors).
2. Dual-Shaft Interaction
   • Most industrial shredders use two counter-rotating shafts (rotors) equipped with interlocking blades or "teeth."
   • The gears in the gearbox transmit power to the main shaft, while a secondary gear system drives the opposite shaft to rotate in the reverse direction.
3. Material Feeding
   • Plastic materials (e.g., bottles, films, pipes, or scrap) are fed into the top hopper of the shredder.
   • The rotating blades on the shafts grip and pull the plastic into the shredding chamber.
4. Shredding Mechanism
   • As the shafts rotate in opposite directions, the blades shear, crush, and tear the plastic through mechanical force:
     • Shearing: Blades from each shaft interlock and cut the plastic like a pair of scissors.
     • Crushing: The gap between blades compresses the plastic, breaking it into smaller pieces.
     • Tearing: The rotational force pulls and rips flexible plastics (e.g., films) apart.
   • The blades are staggered and arranged in a specific pattern to ensure multi-directional cutting (horizontal and vertical), enhancing shredding efficiency.
5. Screen/Grille Separation
   • Below the shredding chamber, a screen or grille with predefined hole sizes acts as a filter.
   • Only pieces small enough to pass through the screen are discharged, while larger pieces are retained for further shredding.
6. Discharge & Collection
   • The shredded plastic particles (shreds) fall through the screen and are collected in a hopper, conveyor belt, or storage bin for subsequent processing (e.g., washing, melting, or granulation).
7. Safety & Control Systems
   • Many shredders include overload protection (e.g., automatic reverse when jammed) and PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) systems to monitor and adjust speed, torque, and operation modes, ensuring safe and efficient performance.
